Brain Pickings' "Best of" list

This is a list of atypical non-fiction books. Some have been celebrated elsewhere, but I am sure no two of them in the same place. What a glut of excellence! Life is so short.

Best SF of 2013

I didn't think I would have read any of these, since SF, especially the new stuff, is not my genre so much anymore. But one I have not only read, but recommended to scores of people, I liked it that much.
